Welcome to the Historic Browns Head Lighthouse, Maine
Located in scenic Maine - a unique and historic destination where guests step into the role of lighthouse keepers.
Perched atop a volcanic outcrop overlooking Penobscot Bay, this active beacon invites you to experience coastal life from a perspective only past lighthouse keepers have witnessed.
Experience the rhythm of the working waterfront, while watching the ebb and flow of the tide in one of the largest lobster fishing communities on the East Coast. The lighthouse is an active U.S Coast guard active aid to navigation, with the original 4th order Fresnel Lens. Unfortunately, the tower is only accessible to the Coast Guard.
Browns Head is a seasonal two-bedroom home perched on 12 acres of land, with a full spectrum view of the Fox Islands Thorofare. The lighthouse has been completely renovated, creating a historic and serene retreat.

The walk down is scenic and rewarding, with beautiful views along the way, but the number of steps is significant and may not be suitable for those with mobility challenges or difficulty navigating stairs. Many guests find it to be part of the unique charm of staying in such a special, historic setting—just something to be prepared for before you arrive.
